Miramar, FL. July 2, 2015. One in 10 people who take vitamin B12 in excess are prone to develop acne, according to a latest study published in the June issue of Science Traditional Medicine

“One of the 10 subjects studied developed acne a week after excessive doses of vitamin B12,” said Yenny Bencomo, Product Development Manager, of Nutrition Formulators. “Our findings suggest that an abundance of B12 promotes porphyrine production, which in turn induces inflammation, and consequently acne.”

The study’s authors insist that the results of the research are not a cause for alarm because vitamin B12 is an important nutrient for humans and too good to pass up.

“Our study confirmed what was previously believed that vitamin B12 is an essential nutrient for humans,” added Bencomo. “Its role in the modulation of transcriptional activities of skin bacteria and metabolite-mediated interactions between the host and the skin microbiota does not diminish the value science has always put on this nutrient.”

The results of the new study clear up many rumors and half-baked truths that had sprung up around vitamin B12 in recent months. It will help Nutrition Formulators clients, other supplements consumers around the world, take more educated decisions.
